OUR STORY

Our story begins in Cotija, Mexico over sixty years ago. David Ruiz used to ride his bike around town, balancing a large box of fresh-baked bread on his head, since there were very little cars around at the time. As he delivered his breads to local corner stores, he learned about authentic Mexican food.

Fast forward twenty years and David is living in the seaside town of San Diego, California. He misses the food he grew up with so he opened Cotija’s Mexican Food. Named after his birthplace, Cotija’s brought the most exciting dishes from that small Mexican town to his new American home. Cotija’s is a family business; his children and grandchildren work there, so do friends from home.

Today, Cotija’s remains a San Diego landmark, still serving the tacos, burritos, and carnitas that would make David proud. David’s children have grown up and moved on; but not surprisingly, they felt the same nostalgic pangs of their father.

Reynaldo, following in his father’s path, opened Senor Taco in Fountain Hills, Arizona in 2000. Senor Taco was built on the Cotija’s tradition. It has grown to thirteen locations and lauded for its homemade, traditional Mexican fare. Every Senor Taco dish is made fresh every day, using the finest ingredients and the freshest produce.

And now comes Senor Taco Express. Senor Taco Express offers the same authentic Mex menu, the same outstanding dishes and signature salsa bar and promising the same commitment to freshness and quality. It’s Senor Taco with a little more andale and some rapido mixed in.
